Jamie Broussard

“Play is the work of childhood.” – Jean Piaget

Jaime Photo

My name is Jamie Broussard, and I have been the owner, and Director of Kids Are People Too since 1980.
I hold a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from L.S.U. and acquired a Montessori Teaching Diploma from North American Montessori. I am a proud member of The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Child Care Association of Louisiana (CCAL). My membership and attendance at many national conferences throughout the United States over the past 43 years show my professional commitment to early childhood, keeping abreast of the latest research.
I support Piaget’s theory on intelligence and believe in Montessori’s hands-on approach to teaching young children. According to research, children learn best through direct, tangible, hands-on, concrete materials. Therefore, we chose a program based on play instead of programs using workbooks and worksheets.
Play fulfills children’s natural desire to move and touch. Through play, children create their themes, test ideas, solve problems, learn to see others’ points of view, use language, develop muscle coordination, explore their environment, and make discoveries.
I am most proud of directing a 4-star facility with a great group of teachers to provide the very best care for your littles.

I have been at Kids Are People Too as an Infant teacher for almost a year. My cousins and nieces inspired me to become a teacher. I recently earned a CDA and have an Ancillary Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood. I also enjoy golfing, fishing and bowling.

Lindsey Broussard

Happiness is great food and great company!

My name is Lindsey Broussard and I have been working at Kids Are People Too for over 23 years. You can say I was born here for I am the daughter of Jamie Broussard. I am usually the first to greet each child in the morning and the last to say goodbye each day. One of my numerous jobs at the center is being the Chef. I am a Certified Chef de Cuisine. It is my job to make sure every child has a well-balanced meal and two snacks daily. My main goal is to try to get that “picky” eater to try at least two bites of our healthy lunch. Usually, even though a child might say they dislike something, they try it and have a new favorite food. I am excited because we are planning to grow a garden at the center. I think this will be so educational for the kiddos to plant vegetables, watch them grow, and then eat. It is all about the memories we help create for our littles!

Emily Lockwood

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn” – O. Fred Donaldson

My name is Emily Lockwood, and I have been working at Kids Are People Too since 2016. I am a mother of two little girls, two and three. I enjoy every minute I get to spend time with them. My mother worked for Kids Are People too for 24 years and she has inspired me to pursue a career in early childhood education. I have always enjoyed working with children. They hold so much imagination and creativity. In my free time I love to go shopping with my two girls.

I have enjoyed working with toddlers at KAPT for the past five years. My favorite part of the day is reading to the children. I love seeing their faces light up as I read to them. Marcie Boultinghouse

“Education begins the moment we see children as innately wise and capable beings. Only then can we play along in their world.” – Vince Gowmon

My name is Marcie Boultinghouse, and I have worked in Early Childhood for over 20 years. I began working at Kids Are People Too in 2002. In 2010 my husband and I purchased an early learning center. I served as the Owner/Director until we decided to sell our Center in 2018. I returned to Kids Are People Too in 2018 to teach the Preschool 4-year-old class and serve as Assistant Director. I have a Child Development Associate and certification from the Louisiana Department of Education to teach in an Early Childhood setting. Working with children has been a true blessing. To see the transformation and growth children experience when preparing to attend Kindergarten is a tremendous joy. My favorite part of each day is simply sitting down with students while they are playing, listening to their stories, and engaging them in conversation. To spend every day surrounded by children is a great experience: endless laughter, lots of hugs, and countless smiles.
My husband, Donny, and I have been married since 1994 and have five children, two sons and three daughters. Our family spends lots of time enjoying the outdoors, watching football, and being softball fans.

Debbie Lockwood

“It’s the things we play with and the people who help us play that make a great difference in our lives.” – Fred Rogers

Debbie Lockwood

My name is Debbie Lockwood and have been part of the Kids Are People Too family for the past 32 years. I began my journey as a parent of a preschool student in 1991 and became a preschool teacher 6 years later. I am the mother of seven children, 5 sons, and 2 daughters, ages 14 to 37 years old. I also have 2 grandsons and 7 granddaughters. I graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1982 and also hold an Ancillary Teaching Certificate from the Louisiana State Department of Education. To be able to work at such a wonderful facility along with my own children as well as yours has been a true blessing. I have truly embraced KAPT”s philosophy of learning through play. Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury; play is a necessity. I witness this every day; watching your children learn, grow, laugh, and imagine. My best advice for parents is to cherish every precious moment with their children……They grow up fast.
